Eagle Point, with a population of 8,700+, is a blend of Old and New - powered by Pride and Community Spirit! 

Nestled on the beautiful Little Butte Creek, Eagle Point is located approximately ten miles northeast of Medford, on Veteran's Memorial Hwy 62 (Crater Lake Hwy); 40 miles from the Oregon/California border; and, a little over an hour to Crater Lake National Park.  If approaching Eagle Point from I-5, on Hwy 234, it is a scenic ten miles to Hwy 62  from Gold Hill, (the southern portal to the Rogue-Umpqua National Scenic Byway). Whether approaching Eagle Point from the south, north or from the West, it is evident there's a lot of activity and change in this "hometown" community.

Its designation, "Gateway to the Lakes" speaks to the fact many high mountain lakes are located in close proximity, including. Lost Creek Lake , Hyatt, Howard Prairie, Diamond Lake , Fish Lake and Willow Lake .  The legendary Rogue River passes to the West of Eagle Point, at TouVelle State Park (foot of Table Rock Mountains ).

Eagle Point, like many small Oregon communities, grew slowly but flourished as a result of the region's strong agrarian economy.  Both timber and fruit orchards were a part of the region's economic base.  1995 started the surge of community growth in Eagle Point with the development of the nationally recognized Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.  During that era of development, Eagle Point was turned into a 'tale of two cities' (old and new), but plans for the entire community is "catching up" thanks to a dynamic Eagle Point Economic Development Committee that has specifically planned areas making the entire community a thriving, solid, livable community.  

Once, primarily a bedroom community for Medford and White City , with lower end entry level housing, the 18 hole par 72 golf course spawned housing for every lifestyle from townhouses to luxurious estates, and now features convenient commercial sites to serve this area.   The panoramic backdrop of the snow-clad mountains in winter, and the softly rolling hills of summer, welcome any visitor to this special place.  Some come to this area for the climate, others for the tranquil setting, and still others to enjoy a lifestyle that is often a dream ..                                                   

                                                 Eagle Point celebrates its 100th birthday of incorporation  

February, 2011, Eagle Point will celebrate its 100th birthday of incorporation.  The year-long celebration will be filled with monthly events held on the second Saturday of each month (with the exception of July, when the community celebrates 4th of July; and, December when Eagle Point celebrates it's annual "Christmas Around Town") .  The birthday celebrations will begin with the February 12th dedication and official opening of " Centennial Plaza ".  This newest addition, sponsored by City of Eagle Point, Economic Development Committee, will be located at the corner of Main Street and Royal Avenue , across from Little Butte Creek, near the children's playground at Mattie Brown Park .  The " Centennial Plaza " is diagonal from the Antelope Covered Bridge , Veteran's Park, and just a short distance from the Eagle Point Museum and Butte Creek Mill.    This centennial event will celebrate significant milestones to one of the fastest growing cities in Oregon .

                                                                               Avenue of the Flags

Avenue of the Flags, sponsored by the Eagle Point-Upper Rogue Chamber of Commerce, is a beautiful site.  Each patriotic holiday, American Flags wave proudly from Veteran’s Memorial State Highway 62 and Linn Road , around City Hall and down Main Street and across both bridges continuing to the Eagle Point National Cemetery that overlooks the City and countryside of Eagle Point.  Each flag was a casket flag donated to the Avenue of the Flags by a family member . . .

A dream that started several generations ago was formally realized May 24, 2007.  The Harnish Wayside Park and Visitors Center is conveniently located on the banks of the Little Butte Creek is located at one of the entrances to Eagle Point (Highway 62 and Old Highway 62).  The Harnish Wayside Visitors Center is patterned after the Harnish Livery Stable established in Eagle Point in 1913.  The visitors center, situated on 50-acres originally owned by the Sam Harnish family, provides visitors a sense of history and information about the area.  In the Little Butte Fish & Wildlife room, a mural depicts the Takelma Indians in their pit houses along the Little Butte Creek.  Additional murals and sculptures are throughout the center.  Take a few minutes to follow the path down to Little Butte Creek, or enjoy a picnic in one of the shaded areas. Convenient parking is adjacent to the center with ample room for RV's or trailers.  Handicapped accessible restrooms.
