The Upper Rogue region is the southern gateway to Oregon's only
national park, Crater Lake
National Park. The region is in the Northern part of Jackson
County, Oregon, where the legendary Rogue River begins its journey
from Crater Lake and continues 215 miles through the valley on
its way to the Pacific Ocean (at Gold Beach).
Many of the small towns in the Upper Rogue were built around the
northwest Timber Heritage. Today, with the Rogue River and the
majestic Cascades as our playground, these rural communities offer
travelers a glimpse of yesteryear with a healthy lifestyle that
includes "year-round" recreation and high country adventure.
It is our pleasure to invite you to experience this
unique region. Visitors from all over the world have come to
enjoy the Upper Rogue's spectacular wonderland of rivers,
streams, forest , lakes, waterfalls and nearby mountain peaks (some
reaching to over 9,000 feet). Dormant volcanoes and rolling acres of
grazing land as well as flat, desert-type land are found in the Upper
Rogue where the small town communities are as diverse as the terrain.
Because of the
region's distinct climate zone, it is possible to cross-country ski or
snow mobile on mountain trails, fish the world famous Rogue River for
the finest salmon, steelhead and trout experience, raft the Wild
& Scenic Rogue River, or golf on an 18-hole championship
course - all in the same day!
